Super Stretch Needle
Needle system: HAx1 SP
The SCHMETZ Super Stretch Needle is closer to the hook thanks to a special flat shank, which makes it easier for the hook to pick up the thread loop. This feature prevents skipped stitches, even when working with highly elastic fabrics. The special blade design ensures less needle breakage and particularly straight stitches. Thanks to the larger eye combined with the wider thread groove, you can use the Super Stretch Needle with thicker sewing threads. This means that there is less pull on the threads, so that they no longer tear.
The medium ball point is suitable for all types of knitted fabric, because it displacecs the loops, thus preventing damage to the material. These needles can be identified quickly and easily as special needles by the white colored ring on the shoulder of the Super Stretch Needle.
The Super Stretch Needles can be used in all household sewing machines that require the 130/705 H needle system, as well as in some overlock machines (more information is available in the user manual). Due to its characteristics, the Super Stretch Needle is an alternative to the Stretch Needle when sewing with thicker threads.
Tips
- The Super Stretch Needle is suitable for use with thicker threads.
- It is also suitable for sewing lingerie or bras, as the special blade design helps to prevent needle breakage.
Suitable fabrics
- Highly elastic fabrics
- Needle sizes NM 65 for ultra-fine stretch fabric like microfiber

Jeans Needle
Needle system: 130/705 H-J
Tip
The medium ball point displaces the fabric threads and penetrates the gaps. This allows the needle to penetrate through solid, thick fabrics more easily without damaging the material. It also requires a lower force of penetration, resulting in less needle breakage.
The blade has a special design to prevent needle breakage and skipped stitches, so that even thick fabrics such as jeans present no challenge.
Suitable fabrics
Strong, thick fabrics:
- Jeans
- Twill
- Canvas

Metallic Needle
Needle system: 130 MET
This needle was specially developed for using metal effect yarns. With 2 mm, it has an extremely long needle eye in relation to the needle size which remains the same length in all needle sizes. The longer needle eye allows the metallic thread to glide extremely gently through the needle: This helps to optimally prevent thread breakages.
Tips
- Sew foil-like metallic threads.
- Metallic embroidery or effect yarns should always be processed slowly so that the thread does not break.
- If you require different needle sizes than NM 80 or 90, you can use the Topstitch Needle.

Embroidery Needle
Needle system: 130/705 H-E
The Embroidery Needle makes embroidery on the sewing machine child’s play: The needle has a larger needle eye for thicker yarns, special effect or metallic embroidery yarns (with a round cross section). Thanks to the medium ball point, damage to the (already sewn) embroidery yarn and the base fabric is avoided. The larger eye and the wider thread groove make it easier to feed in the thread, with low friction levels. This effectively prevents thread breakage.
Tips
- Use the Embroidery Needle to sew decorative stitches with household sewing machines.
- Use embroidery or effect yarns for embroidery using a decorative technique.
- You can also use the Embroidery Needle on embroidery machines.

Gold Embroidery Needle
Needle system: 130/705 H-ET
With its extraordinary characteristics, this innovative needle from SCHMETZ is suitable for use in sensitive embroidery. Even large embroidery motifs with tens of thousands of stitches can be created without changing the needle. You achieve a uniform stitch pattern from the first to the last stitch.
The Gold Embroidery Needles can be used in all conventional household sewing machines, in particular for sewing machines with special embroidery programs.
Tips
- The Gold Embroidery Needle is particularly suited for beginners: minor operator errors are compensated by the extremely hard coating.
- The needle enables even thicker threads to be fed in easily.
- The easy yarn passage through the eye reduces yarn abrasion.
- The needle is also suitable for metallic yarns with a more rounded cross section.
- Use the needle for embroidery with a higher stitch number.

Super Universal Needle
Needle system: 130/705 H-SU
When using self-adhesive embroidery backing and spray adhesive or when sewing on self-adhesive hook-and-loop, unpleasant adhesive residues on the needle are common.
The new Super Universal Needle is now putting an end to this, offering industrial grade for household needles too. The key feature that sets the Super Universal Needle apart from other household needles is its particularly smooth non-stick coating. It ensures that significantly less adhesive residue remains on the needle (no needle sticking) and thus also helps to prevent thread breakage.
This effect is underlined even further by the extra-large eye, making the needle particularly suitable for embroidery work. The eye matches that of a 2 NM thicker needle. This means that the eye of a NM 70 Super Universal Needle is similar to the eye of a normal NM 90 needle, for example. The slightly rounded point shape means that the needle can be used with most materials without problems. The blade has special blade against needle breakage and skipped stitches, so that even thick fabrics like jeans are no challenge at all.
Tips
- The needle eye and the long groove do not become clogged with adhesive backing and foams during embroidery work.
- The needle is particularly suited for sewing on self-adhesive elements.
- The wide range of additional characteristics make sewing many – even difficult – materials much easier: This is why “super” is included in the name.
Suitable fabrics
- Hook-and-loop tape
- Material processing from thin to thick
