More information about sport and leisure
For most of us sport is an indispensable element of our personal leisure activities. It is important to be protected against possible threats to body and health. When manufacturing sports equipment and protective sportswear, safety as well as functional aspects are prioritized. A protector must be abrasion resistant and stable, and it must not slip or constrict the action radius of the wearer. To have athletic success, one must be able to move freely.
Protective sportswear must be compatible with regular sportswear. In addition, it must support clothing-physiological properties such as quickly transporting moisture away from the body, keeping the body warm, ensuring sufficient ventilation, and making the athlete visible in bad lighting conditions by virtue of reflectors.
In the production of sportswear, protective sportswear, and special products for the leisure industry, materials are used that must meet the requirements of the final product. Heavy synthetic fabrics such as nylon, Cordura, leather, composite materials, and neoprene are intended as outer or carrier materials. These in turn are equipped with pads and plastic or carbon linings and integrated pockets for insertable protectors. All of these materials have a special property: stability, which serves to protect the wearer but often causes problems during the production process.
